All About the Peony Flower

The peony is a flower that is shrouded in a lot of history. You will find that this flower is something that the Greek really have done a lot with. The Greek story goes that the Greek god of medicine Asclepius had a student named Paena. But, the student was actually better than the master, so the teacher because jealous of him. The story goes that Zeus actually had to save the student from the teacher’s wrath by turning him into a flower. Description of the Peony Flower

The peony is a flower that belongs to the genus Paeonia. This is a flowering plant family that has about 25 to 40 species in it. For the most part, all of the plants in this family are herbaceous perennial plants and they grow in Asia, parts of Southern Europe, and North America. The peony is a plant that will grow up to about 9 feet tall, these plants have some very deep leaves that have different lobes to them. With them comes a very large flower with lots of great petals on them. These flowers are extremely fragrant and they smell great. You will find that these flowers range in color from white, red, yellow, and purples, and they will bloom in the late spring and in the early summer. These are great flowers, they look outstanding, and they smell even better.

 

 

Uses for the Peony Flower

With the peony, there are all kinds of great uses for it. You will find that the peony works great for arrangements and for bouquets. These flowers are showy and they really look great so you will see that the flowers are really great to add to arrangements or to star in an arrangement. Other people just want to plant the flowers so that they have a great flower that is big and that will look great in their yards. This is a great landscaping flower in all the great colors that it comes in. Why do people plant the Peony Flower ?

You will find that with the peony, they are fairly easy to grow. These flowers are at least a little bit easier to grow because they will die in the winter and they will actually regrow in the spring, so you don't have to worry about replanting them which makes your job a lot easier and at least easier to make sure that they start to grow. You will also want to make sure that you have enough water for the plant that you make sure there is proper drainage so that you can't over water it, and that you are planting it in soil that is going to work for it.
