All About the Forsythia Flower

The forsythia is a beautiful little flower that a lot of people really appreciate today. The flower was named after a French botanist and is really know through a child’s game called Rabbit. Description of the Forsythia Flower

This flower is actually a flowering plant that comes from the family called Olaeceae, which oddly enough is the Olive family. There are only 11 different species of this flower and most of them are found throughout Asia. The flower actually is a shrub that grows to between 3 and 9 feet high. It has a rough bark and it has leaves that are decently long. What happens is that the tree actually flowers in the early spring before the leaves bud, so the first thing that you get after winter is this beautiful yellow tree. The flowers that come off of the tree are 4 lobed and they are bright yellow, when it rains, they actually turn into a pendant and start to protect their reproductive parts. These flowers are actually able to produce milk and they do have a fruit too.

 

 

Uses for the Forsythia Flower

While the forsythia is generally found in places in the wild, it is a tree that a lot of people like and want to have in their gardens, yards, and other places. There are generally two main species that people are going to plant and they are hybrids that have been created more for the purposes of growing them. There are even a lot of these plants that are used as garden shrubs and take up a lot of great space and look incredible also. It was during World War I that this tree was really discovered as a great option for planting and plant hunters found it and began to use it.

 

 

Why do people plant the Forsythia Flower?

This plant has been turned into a lot of hybrids that people use to make sure that they are getting a great shrub that will grow and flower. There are all kinds of great flowers that are out there, these shrubs are great because they flower early and they look great year round. So, in the spring, you will get a really nice flowering of yellow flowers, and you will get the greenery after that. There are all kinds of great gardens and parks that are going to have great Forsythia in them, and they look incredible. There are also some other uses for the Forsythia, some of these sticks are used for instruments even, so not only does it look great, but there are some great uses for it also.
